    Good custom alumiminum work.

I want to get a 1 inch or 1/4 inch aluminum grab rail made for my boat bow to attach to the hardtop. Want it to have 3 attachment points, and 2 bolts per bolt plate. I'm think a bent piece of rail with the attahment points welded on like flanges with 2 mounting bolts.

Put a sample picture at the photo board on this link:

I really want to have somebody come to my place, take the measurements, then bring it when its done. But will drag the boat to some place if I need to.

Who does this kind of stuff?

Any metal fabricator who does any tube forming at all should be able to help you.

Having only one leg in the middle and only 2 screw holes per flange doesn't seem very robust to me. I would suggest you go to 2 legs and 3 holes per flange.

    Good luck.

    WOW!

So frustrated, I called the OEM, Raider Boats in Washington State on a Friday and expained I needed some help to enjoy the boat, and what I was looking to have built. The Owner got on the phone and talked it over with me. By the following Thursday, delivered by UPS, I had a 5 foot long aluminum grabrail with 4 each 2 bolt mounting points, provided with stainless bolts and lock nuts, that perfectly matched the style and size of all other railings on the boat. Total cost including shipping was $100.

I sent an immediate thank you note. Just never expected that kind of individualized and personalized response from an OEM. The rail came out just like I pictured it, but they made it with 4 mounting points instead of just 3.

Lesson learned, never be afraid to ask. Second lesson learned, this was the best support I have ever gotten from an OEM boat builder, yet it's the smallest business I've ever bought a boat from.
