Re: Best fishing line for top water

My vote is for braid. Braid doesn't have the memory that other lines do. Mono is also acceptable, but will have memory after being spooled onto the reel soon after.

Another factor to consider is price. If you can shell out a little more $$$, go with braid. If not, there are plenty of inexpensive monofilament options.

I mainly use a couple spinning reels for smaller stuff and finesse baits and use 1 baitcaster for larger baits, worms and top water. My question-If i put braid on the bait caster, will it effect all the other stuff I use it for? I have never used braid and know zero about it.

i've got mine set up just bass-ackwards, my spinning rigs have braid on them, and i put mono and floro. On my bait-casters. I like the "no-memory" and strength of braid, but i use a 3' or 4'
leader tied with either back-to-back uniknots, or a bloodknot.
I don't "flip" much, hardly ever "pitch", so i don't use much braid on my b.c.'s i do have one set up for swim-baits, just have'nt used it much. The only thing i've noticed, with braid, is if your using it with baits with trebles, it will sometimes get tangled,
with the hooks, as it is so limp. Other than that you should be fine... Tr
