I would like to know why he was even in the game to take a shot. Thats my problem. He had plenty of low level games he could have played him in. He put him in with the game on the line and he has hardly played all season and thats my point. He took a proven behanen out in cincy and put in swopshire if I remember correctly and got beat. Why would you experiment with March around the corner? That should have taken place in December and it did not.

Parker is dead on in his assessment(sp). It may take another 3 first round exits from the NCAA tourney and a couple of NIT appearances before the Louisville Brass grows a set and sends him packing. But, Ricky P lost it a couple of years ago when his team did not come to play against California in the first round of the NCAA and he has yet to get it back. By the way, his nomination to the Basketball Hall of Fame is a joke. If he wins in 1997 then stays at UK and wins in 1998 there is no telling how many titles and victories he has by now. The Hall of Fame would have came calling a few years ago by now. But his tenure at Louisville is not Hall of Fame material, his tenure with the Knicks and Celtics is not Hall of Fame material, His tenure at UK is Hall of Fame material if it had more longevity. But to put him in the same institution as Rupp, Smith, Coach K and the likes is laughable.

I am not going to get into the coaching change discussion, but I do want to address what Woody said about the Hall of fame. To say that his nomination is a joke is ridiculous. The guy has easily had a hall of fame career. He is the first (and only according to official NCAA records) to take three teams to a Final Four. He has won everywhere he has been with the exception of his tenure with the Celtics. Boston University had won 17 games total in two seasons before he got there and he took them to the NCAA. Heck, even his first stint in the NBA was pretty successful. When he got to the Knicks they had won 24 games the season before. He not only took them to a winning record, but they made the playoffs. His second season they won their division and probably were the second best team in the league, but they got beat by a team from Chicago who had this guy who was kinda good.

As for his tenure at Louisville, it is better than at least one hall of fame college coach did in his entire career. John Chaney is in and he never made a freaking Final Four. To try and say Rick Pitino is not a hall of fame coach is throwing out all objectivity and entering the theater of the absurd.

Pitino has certainly done enough to be called a Hall of Fame coach, to say otherwise is just hater talk.

Now with that said I agree with Parker alot. I'm done with Cardinal basketball, it's time for Rick to step down. When you are the fourth or fifth highest paid coach in the country and you are not getting it done it's time for Jurich to man up. It's Pitino's JOB TO RECRUIT AND WIN.....PERIOD. He is doing neither and he is at a premier program and venue, which is why he's being paid so much.

Time for Rick to go and new blood, Pitino is ready for the pasture...

To each is own on opinions, which is what makes this board go around. My opinion on Pitino is no different than others that have opinions on Coach Cal, they are our opinions. To elaborate, I have always believed the Hall of Fame was for Coaches and Players AFTER their careers are over and to be inducted into the Hall before you retire really takes huge over the top accomplishments. Pitino's only National Title was with a Team so stacked that anyone here could have coached it to the title. Fully understand about the schools he has taken to Final Fours and his accomplishments but he failed miserably in Boston missing the playoffs all 3 years and resigning in the middle of the 4th year. He spent 8 years at Kentucky. Take those out of the picture and you have a coach that took 2 teams to the Final Four with no National Titles, 10 NCAA appearances, 4 NIT appearances and 2 years where his team went no where and a NBA career that was a Bust at best.

If 8 years at Kentucky are the main accomplishments plus 2 other Final Four appearances are the criteria then we might as well put Billy Donovan in the Hall of Fame, 16 years at the same school with 2 Titles in Back to Back years at a Football School. What about Brad Stevens at Butler, BUTLER, where he made the Championship Game the last 2 years coming a half court shot off the rim of beating Duke for the title 2 years ago. Butler and their great tradition, A Mid Major Team, getting coached to the title game in back to back years is a bigger accomplishment than Pitino's 2 year run in 96 and 97. Put him in the Hall of Fame. All I am saying is, in my opinion, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame before you have finished your career takes a very special coach with accomplishments that are so over the top and I don't think Pitino has done that. Does he deserve to be in the Hall of Fame AFTER he retires, for taking 3 different teams to the Final Four, Yes, but not now.
