Is there a public ramp in Sledd Creek were you can unload a boat on a trailer. The only thing that I can find is on the Fish & Wildlife site. It says it is a carry down only. We like to fish Sledd Creek and it would make for easy access.

The only public ramp I know of is unpaved, gravel, and pain in the rear unless you have a decent 4WD truck. I used to launch my aluminum duck hunting rig back in there. It was also where I partied back in high school...code name "Idaho"
TVA owns the land/area.
Idaho area:
36°57'52.33"N
88°17'0.76"W
Idaho trailhead (off of Ridge Rd):
36°58'6.94"N
88°17'20.14"W
I certainly wouldn't pull a nice heavy fiberglass rig down there.
I would either launch at Ky Dam Marina, or Rocky Point - Rocky Point is a little closer to Sledd, but not by much.
Rocky Point Ramp
36°57'29.73"N
88°14'11.89"W
Nice ramp with courtesy dock, however parking can be limited if it's a nice day out on the weekend.
The KDFWR is working with the TVA and rebuilding the "Idaho" ramp as we speak. The concrete ramp will be done in the next two weeks and a courtesy dock along with some asphalt work will follow. The only public ramp I know of is unpaved, gravel, and pain in the rear unless you have a decent 4WD truck. Thanks guys. I have used both KY Dam and Rocky Point before. I will check it out when I am down there this spring.
I hadn't heard about that........I loved that place during high school. It used to be a great place to ride 4-wheelers, but when TVA gave up LBL, they started policing the area more and started writing tickets. One officer showed up one night during a party, but was really nice in that he offered to leave as soon as we picked up any and all trash with him watching. He hung around and told stories for a little, and then went on his way as he promised.
Did they build an actual decent road to the ramp? It was nothing more than a trail for years.
The TVA constructed a gravel road all the way from Ridge Road to the site. They also placed a lot of rock for parking and KDFWR is helping them with the concrete ramp, paving, and courtesy dock through a partnership. The new concrete ramp will allow you to launch without backing the whole truck out into the water as it was with the existing gravel ramp.I hadn't heard about that........I loved that place during high school. Here's a link to an aerial photo map of the ramp site:
