Cal is the best recruiter in the country hands down. The rules are the rules that say a kid must come to college a minimum of 1 year before playing in the NBA. Until they change the rule, whichever coach in america that gets the best players will have the best results. Do I, as a UK fan, enjoy trying to learn new names and faces each year, NO. But rather I do that and have the success that UK is having or have Cal go after less talented players that will produce lower results just to keep them around a while, NO. The rules are the rules and Cal is the best at recruiting based on the rules today.
The reason I said that is because of what you said about learning new player names and having totally different teams every year....I like players to come to IU because of our history and wanting to add to that history....not because they want to use us for a year and then leave to make $$$. Eric Gordon is a prime example....love him as a player, but I would have been happier to get a 4 year player and watch him grow and become more successful as a player. College basketball is not all about w's and l's...at least to real team/school supporters. Its obvious that most (not necessarily you) UK fans only care about wins, not how or who helps them get them! I love IU because I live here, went to school here, and love our tradition (which includes having success in the past b/c of great coaching with good four year players). Sure I want us to win and do well in the tourney, but not at the expense of one and doner's....especially numerous ones each year.
