Yep, Crean knows how to beat Cal's one and doners. That is proven by the 17 point loss in Bloomington and 19 point loss in Rupp in 2009 and 2010. Yes Crean caught lightning in a bottle in 2011, Davis in foul trouble / Jones, who knows what was wrong with him / Teague, best player on IU's team the first half / IU hits something like 30 - 3 pointers in a row / IU hits a last second 3 / In a crazy environment - All this to win by 1 point. Not sure I would rest on the fact that Crean has the recipe to beat Cal's one and doner's based on the 2011 game.
And you **** kids get off my lawn!Yeah it's good for the kids to go pro in a year and make millions..........
But that ain't what this fan wants to see - and since this is the "me first" generation I demand that my intentions are made top priority!
I converted some of the games of IU's 87 title run from VHS to DVD for my dad. I sure miss 80's basketball. Back in the days when they ran actual offensive sets and tried to work the ball inside. Today it's all dribble, drive, and dish to someone behind the 3 point line. I hate the 3 point shot.
Dang I'm only 35 years old.

I was listening to the Larry Glover show tonight....a quote from Cal when he first got here ...."Enjoy it and hve fun with itwhile it lasts."
I'm sure we could interpret that in 1,000 different ways.
As far as Crean Potter is concerned....You guys are kidding yourselves...When he can have one and doners.....He WIll...LOL!!!! When a coach can have one and doners and purposely wouldn;t his AD will show hm the door....
How would you???
And for those of you that think these one-and-doners are just users that don't give a crap about UK and tradition...Anthony Davis asked several times during the Georgia game to take the bench so Senior Eloy Vargas could play. He also had a tearful episode after the game was over, when My Old Kentucky Home was being played by the band and the cheerleaders were arm in arm as is tradition. He had played his last game at Rupp, he knew it, and was emotional. Users that are only in it for themselves don't have those moments. Some of these kids, in addition to being supreme talent on the court, are some pretty good young men with respect for the name on the jersey and what it means to wear it. They learn a lot about UK in their 1 year here and they love it.
The current rules say a kid can't go straight from High School to the NBA. Personally, I don't like this rule because of the number of kids that do come to school for 1 year knowing will aware that they are staying 1 and done. I think the rule should be like Baseball. In Baseball, Kids have a choice of putting their name in the Draft or signing with a College. But if you sign with a College you have to stay a minimum of 3 years in College before you can enter theri draft. I think the rule in Basketball should be if you sign then you stay a minimum of 2 years in College before you enter the Draft. This would let those that THINK they can make it in the NBA go straight to the NBA Draft. The problem is that so many 18 year old High School kids have so many people telling them how great they are that they think they are better than they really are. There are not that many Lebron James, Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryants playing High School ball that can go straight to the NBA and become stars. Recently kids like Kevin Durant had the game that he could have went straight to the Pros and been a success. From Kentucky, I think John Wall, Anthony Davis and MKG are the only 3 that could have bypassed Kentucky and been very good NBA players. Cousins had the size but was way immature (and still is), Orton was a fool, Bledsoe was a fool, Knight needed his one year and made the correct decision to leave. If Teague leaves he is a fool, Davis has to go because he is the top pick, I think MKG should go because he is a lottery pick. Lamb and Jones should come back for one more year to work on their game a bit more, especially JONES. Just like the 3 point shot and them legalizing the Dunk, rules change and the game changes. The players and coaches that adjust to the rule changes the fastest have the most immediate success. Look at Pitino and the 3 point shot as an example and all the success he had early on when it came into the game. Until they change the rule, the coach that gets the best talent year in and year out has the best success. Right now with an Elite 8, Final 4 and this years team, Calipari and Kentucky are having the best 3 year run. Do I think Kentucky will win the title this year, YES? Do I think it is all due to the 1 and Doner's, Absolutely NO. Without Miller, Lamb and Jones there is no way Teague, Davis and MKG would be favored to win the title. People can say what they want to say, but if their coach would get 3 Number 1 recruiting classes in a row and then turn them into Elite 8, Final 4 and who knows this year, THEY WOULD JUMP AT THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THAT COACH. As they say don't blame the messenger. Don't blame Calipari for recruiting and signing players within the rules of the game. It is not good for college basketball for all these 1 and doners to come and go but that is the rules today
I like what you said about the one year rule...the baseball one makes more sense. I don't blame Cal for recruiting the way he does....to each his own...I'm just glad that IU hasn't gone that route....and hope we don't (at least not to the extint UK has). The current rules say a kid can't go straight from High School to the NBA. If you thnk for one second that Crean did not recruit Wall, Cousins, Knight, Orton, Bledsoe, Davis, MKG, Jones, Lamb, Teague and Wiltjer, them you are drinking way too much Hoosier Juice. These are exactly the kind of players that turn a program around. Kentucky went from the NIT one year to the Elite 8 the next. Don't confuse Crean not signing the one and doners with him not recruiting them. Crean and EVERY other Coach in the Country would have cut off his left arm to get 3 Number 1 recruiting classes in a row and have the success that Kentucky has the past 3 years. If there are Top Program Coaches NOT recruiting these types of players then that College has the wrong coach.
Yup!! It's all about winning in sports!!! I can't imagine any coach sitting back and looking for 4 year project players......not gonna happen. Everyone wants the best and if your not able to get the best you go for the second, third or fourth and down the line.If you thnk for one second that Crean did not recruit Wall, Cousins, Knight, Orton, Bledsoe, Davis, MKG, Jones, Lamb, Teague and Wiltjer, them you are drinking way too much Hoosier Juice.
