melting pot, thank God it's so.

when I look around and see how different we all are, and in so many ways. looks, color, size, the way we all think, things we do. and I thought, we have to be like this to keep everything going. just think how it would change the world, if everyone in the world was just like you. not in the way you look but in the way you think and do. if everyone in the world was just like me in the way they think and do, the world would be much worse than it is now. and I think of myself as a good person. here are a few things that would change if everyone was like me.

I don't mess with other peoples business, or anything that don't belong to me.
so there would be no need for prisons, so most judges and lawyers and most police would be out of work. no need for security.

I don't drink alcohol, or smoke. so all the people that grow tobacco and make smokes, the ones that make the alcohol drinks, and containers. would be out of work.

I don't like flying, so all the airlines would be out of business. and that would effect a lot of jobs.

I only go to the doctor for a bad cut or broken bone. if I need to sneeze, I do it at home not in an emergency room. so doctors would be few and far apart, and care would be very cheap when one did need it. so this would cost lots of jobs.

I don't like ballgames, so players and coaches would be working real jobs. and the people that work at making all the things that make the sport possible, would be out of work.

the list goes on and on, when I think if everyone was like me the world economy would fall apart. and I try to be a good person and treat everyone like I like to be treated. so I think it takes a Melting pot of people. to keep our economy strong. and the more we are unlike each other the stronger we are.

Well said and I agree, mostly. But not so sure about "the more we are unlike each other the stronger we are." I'm all about honoring our own heritage, or country of origin, or language, but history shows that when nations lose their own national identity the end is near.

Yes, the whole idea of a "melting pot" is that the end result is a consolidation of all the diverse ingredients that make it up. That said, I agree that diversity is crucial. As some wise person once said, "If we all sang the same note, there could never be any harmony."
