Congrats, a quick question if you could only throw one bait this time of year what would it be?

My son and I went river fishing yesterday and located a few of the toothy critters. He landed two; a 41.5 inch and a 39 inch. Both females.
I had one on for about 10 seconds, but lost it.
He caught them on his homemade inline spinners. The fox-squirrel tail model.
Unfortunately, landing three muskies in three days totally ruined his lure. Those fox squirrels better be hiding this next squirrel season around our place.

I am going to keep throwing the one in the third picture after I pull it apart and put it back together with new parts. Whatever you decide to throw, pick something red or orange. The red suckers are running. Match the baitfish. I caught that first one deep and the second one shallow. About the only lure with that kind of size and versatility is a spinnerbait. We release them all, by the way. It can really make a big difference if you fish the same places.
Swimbaits are normally my go to lures. I wouldn't have been throwing that thing if I hadn't just made it last week.
Nice fish, i fish for them some in ky river but rarely catch one and never catch a couple in a day. Well done!!
Nice fish. Congrats. My partner & I tried it last fall into early winter & enjoyed it. We never caught any big ones, but will for sure be doing it again very shortly. I'll say that casting all day for them will flat wear you out & hurt places you didn't even know you had. lol
Boy, they really worked that bait over. When you get it rebuilt I would like to see another picture of it if you could please. I have recently started making my own inline spinners and would be interested in seeing yours. Thanks for the post
Here are two squirrel tail lures that he's made me, and a few more lures that we have made.
