Is UK that good, or is the SEC that bad?

I only ask because after looking at the latest RPI, there is only 1 SEC team in the top 25.

The Big 10 has 5 teams. I'm only using the Big 10 because I follow them, The Big East and ACC also have more teams with higher RPI's.

In IU's case, they have played 6 teams with a top 25 RPI. Some of those teams multiple times. And we have played 11 teams with a RPI above 50. If you count all the games Indiana has played this year, we've played nearly 1/2 our games against Top 50 RPI opponents.

I don't worry for UK....I still think the NCAA 2012 is theirs to win. BUT have they played enough serious talent to win SERIOUS games?

    I'm just askin.

Kentucky is THAT GOOD, plain and simple. Are the Cats tested, YES. They were down at Mississippi State in the first half with Dee Bost playing like Dwayne Wade with a jumpshot but weathered the storm and won. Vanderbilt had came back from being down double digits in the first half to take a lead in the second half, but Kentucky closed the game on an 8-0 run to win. I know these games were early in the season but Kentucky beat Kansas and UNC. Even with all the adversity and IU playing the game of their lives, Kentucky came a couple of missed free throws from beating IU. The only team UK has played all season with almost equal talent was UNC. But, UNC lost 2 of their top players to season ending knee injuries including one of the best defenders in the country. Kentucky is not the team that they were when they played games up to the New Year. Teague is maturing and learning his role, Miller - Lamb - Wiltjer are hitting 3's at well over 40% each, Davis is the best player in America, MKG can do it all and is a lockdown defender of 4 positions on the floor and Jones is doing his usual late season surge. No weakness on this team. This does not guarantee they will win the title but there is no other team or group of teams that I would take instead of the Cats. I know Syracuse is supposed to be the stiffest competition but in the 4 games that I have watched, that 2-3 Syracuse zone has holes in it that Kentucky will exploit. Louisville should have beaten them twice this year. They could not throw it in the ocean yesterday but it was not because they were contested 3's, Louisville just had a bad shooting day. #10 for Louisville would flash to the foul line for a pass but could not make a shot from the foul line, Miller - Lamb - MKG won't miss this shot. Then many times there was a Louisville player roaming the baseline behind the zone and I am seeing lob pass after lob pass from Kentucky. The Cats are that good, the SEC is not very good - top to bottom, Vanderbilt is better than people think, Florida is worse than people think. The Kentucky Wildcats win the 2012 National Title.

As far as the Big Ten goes, Ohio State is not as good as advertised and neither is Michigan. Michigan State is a threat to make it to New Orleans. The rest of the Big Ten will be lucky to make it to the second week of the tourney. No Butler or VCU's in this years tourney. Kentucky, UNC, Syracuse, Michigan State and Kansas will all have a lot to say about who wins the title. Duke and Missouri are over-rated and will be out early.

UK is an awesome team. Their first 6 are better than anybody else's first 6 without question. Anthony Davis is the best college ball player I have seen in a very very long time. He is also soft spoken and humble and very easy for me to like.

Can UK be beat, yes anybody can.
    1. Bad shooting night while the other team hits three at a high percentage
    2. Foul trouble or an injury to a key player or players
    3. A bad match up and ref's with happy whistles, see line 2.
    4. Whom they have to face and where?

There are teams out there that have a legit shot at beating Kentucky, will they face them at all, will they show up if they do??

Would I like my chances at a title run with this UK team................A WHOLE BUNCH

Is the Big Ten as good as people say or just a bunch of Mediocre teams playing each other? Michigan State, Michigan and Ohio State ended up in a 3 way tie for first, Wisconsin and Indiana are the next 2. MSU, Michigan, Ohio State and Indiana all split their head to head matchups during the regular season. Wisconsin played and lost to the only 2 Top 25 teams, Marquette and North Carolina, during their pre-conference schedule and then lost to Iowa twice. When teams like North Carolina, Syracuse and Kansas win their conferences outright and Kentucky wins the SEC by 6 full games, I am not sure the Big Ten has a legitimate title contender because on a neutral court neither of the Top 5 in the Big Ten could beat either of these 4 teams.

Simple answer yes and yes! UK is scary good and the SEC is probably 5th or 6th out of the top six conferences.

The big10 does not have a title contender - just a bunch of solid teams and two bottom feeders.

Big Ten haters are coming out, huh?!?!?! Really, we don't have a title contender. OSU, MSU, Michigan.....IU has already beaten 3 top 5 teams this year.....so yes, it does have contenders. Favorites, maybe not. Just remember UCONN last year or Butler the past few years. The BIG 10 is full of very good teams that are well coached. The SEC is full of less than mediocre teams and one really good one. Same with the BIG 12, except they have two really good teams. Put UK in the Big 10 and they lose at least 4-5 games total this year. UK is the favorite right now...I'm betting they don't win it all...the favorite going in rarely does!

I agree UK is the favorite and if for some reason Davis gets hurt or gets in foul trouble in a game they are done. That guy changes the game by being on the floor regardless if he blocks shots or not.

Oh the Big 10 has teams that can be there at the end, you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Re: Is UK that good, or is the SEC that bad?

I'm a Big10 homer and I don't see it. A Final Four team yes - a serious threat under normal circumstances - no. Neither Butler nor UCONN were considered serious threats last year. So you have to throw the "anything could happen" blanket out there. We should just go to the BCS system and have UK and Syracuse play in the championship game....................

"Put UK in the Big 10 and they lost at least 4-5 games total this year". What a joke!!! Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan each lost 5 games to tie for the conference title and you are saying Kentucky loses 5 to make it a 4 way tie at the top? So basically, Kentucky is equal to OSU, MSU and Michigan ......... NOT!! Not a single Big 10 team comes within Double Digits of Kentucky in Rupp Arena and there is no way in this world that they lose 5 games on the road in the Big 10. OSU could not beat MSU or Wisconsin on their home floor in the past few weeks. Josh Harrelson equalized the Over-rated Jared Sullinger last year when the Cats sent the Buckeyes home. This year no Harrelson but a fella name Anthony Davis, you may have heard of him, controls the middle for Kentucky. Another guy named Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is a lockdown defender that Buford for OSU will have nightmares about after the game. Michigan, NEVER, Wisconsin, NEVER, Minnesota, NEVER, Purdue, NEVER, Iowa - Nebraska - Illinois, NOT. IU beat Kentucky and it took the game of their lives and Kentucky playing it's worst game of the year for them to win on a last second prayer 3 pointer. Count that loss in the Big 10 and then figure out where the other 4 come from. There won't be a single Big Ten team in the Elite 8 and it would not suprise me if only Michigan State was left after the first weekend of the Big Dance.
