    Re: Friday's storms

My Dad lives in Campton Kentucky, which is in Eastern Ky down the Mountain Parkway past Natural Bridge about 20 miles. He had 2 estimates done yesterday on his damage. One came back at $39,500 and the other was $38,950. He had hail the size of baseballs that broke a window out of his house, beat the gutters off, damaged his metal roof on his house and his workshop, broke 3 windows out of 2 of his vehicles and damaged his motorcycle trailer. The 2 cars they drive, his 57 Chevy and Harley all were inside and did not get damaged plus he and my step mother are ok. I was pissed off that one of my cars had the windo broken and hail damage on both of our cars. But people have lost way more than either of us for they lost their lives. Terrible tragedy.

My uncle had windows busted out and hail damage to all of his vehicles and his company trucks. Plus damage at his sawmill and lumber yard. Between my Dad, Uncle and First Cousins in Campton there was 11 vehicles with windows busted out and hail damage. My Dad's property took the worst of all my family. West Liberty is right down the road and it was pretty much leveled.

I just saw a story on youtube thru NBC news of a woman who wrapped her two children in a blanket and laid on top of them as the tornado ripped thru her house. I guess they dont have basements there. I think it was called Henryville and not sure of state. She saved their lives and no scratches on them. SHe lost her legs as the house fell on her. Her husband was crying as he was at work and not home. The house was flattened. Amazing story of a mother protecting her children and unbelievable courage these folks have to make it thru an ordeal like that.

Miss Gills, they were in the basement, the iron I beams from the first floor was what fell and crushed her legs so badly. A deputy sheriff with helpers had to dig her out of all the fallen debris. She is a Mom for sure and I would love to shake her hand, look her in the eye someday and tell that I admire the Hell out of her. Not everybody does the right thing. Yes she did what any Mom should do, but she passed the test and God should smile on her from now on. Thats just how I see it....
