I'm having nightmares of losing $30 in baits on my first cast.
I have hung mine up several times but always got it back...fully intact. But today, my partner was throwing one for a while and he got hung up. He pulled hard and got his rig back minus one swivel and bait on a four-wire rig.
throw on 80 # braid and use light wire hooks.
I've lost several. They hang everything. Thinking of going to 80lb braid. Funny thing, one day I hung up my a-rig, got over the top of it and pulled and pulled. Finally it broke lose so I reeled it up. Attached was another a-rig. Yup, that's right, I hung up and caught someone else's a-rig, baits and all.
Yes,First time out trying the a-rig and 30 mins later hung up and lost it in about 12 feet of water..Pulled and pulled and went around all sides trying to free it with no luck and broke the 65plb power pro line off.
Late in the day my partner lost his also with the same line setup. We was constantly getting hung up and having to get lures unhung. From now on going to use mainly on open water point's and deep water humps.
Or i may try to use Weighted swimbait hooks and texas rig them to make them a little more weedless .Although i am not sure how well that will work,But regardless i lost about 60$ today in arigs ,jigheads and baits
Lost one Saturday at Dale. The 50lb braid broke before the hook bent. The rig is on the bottom of the channel between Trooper Is. and Boys Is. if anyone is scuba diving....lol. I gave up on the A-rig for the rest of the trip and went to the swim bait and did pretty well. I caught 8 total with all being between 2-3 lbs.
Could be worse could hang one of these up.

There is no way that any swimbait is worth $415.00 ! That bait cant cost over $20.00 in materials if that much. It better catch a fish on every cast for that price
Totally agree, that's just nuts. At that price, I'd need the lure to drive itself to the lake, catch the fish, bring them home, clean, and then fry them.
You can buy a fishing guide for less than that![]()
I have also caught (snagged) an A-Rig while casting an A-Rig. It also had a crankbait and spinnerbait attached to it. One cast brought up 7 other baits!! Fished Guntersville this past weekend and my brother got his A-Rig hung up...couldn't get it loose so he jumped in after it!!! 56* water temps and he went in after it!! Got it back too!
Did you notice in the article the guy fishing lost one of these lures when he hooked into a fish that he lost. I am assuming he lost bait and fish from the article. That would be a prize fish if you catch the fish and one of those bait.
