    Trolling Motor Problem

I've got an 82lb Motorguide Digital Tour 24v and I haven't had any problems until recently. Lately, when I put it on high, it runs for a few seconds and then trips a breaker on one of my batteries (always the same battery/breaker). If I turn the speed down just below the highest setting, the motor will jerk while pressing the swtich on the pedal like the power is being flicked on and off (picture a light switch being flipped on and off rapidly). Works fine at slower speeds. I've looked under the cover, but can't see that any wires are touching that would create a short. My batteries are less than a year old. Any ideas?

Check all your connections first. After that you could try a new breaker. Since it's a digital motor there could be a problem with the electonics too. The only way to find out for sure is to eliminate the possibilities one by one.

Google Jones Trolling motors. They're located in Arkansas, but provide the best advice and service for trolling motors that I've ever seen. If you're having a problem, chances are they've seen it and can get you going in the right direction.

it could be your brushes, my MG had the same problem last year, so I took the prop and drive apart, sure enough the springs where gummed up, I gave them a good cleaning and works good as new now.

i believe the best guess is the brushes, or the conections, if you want too. You can bring it up to my garage, and i'll help you look at it. I helped bass-man install his m.g.
As they said on "fast-times at ridgemont high", "my dad was a t.v. Repairman, i've got a killer set of tools!!! Tr
