I don't follow basketball, I wouldn't give 1 dollar for season tickets for both UK and U of L, but while listening to the radio I heard this and after reading your post, I had to pass this one along. the guy on the radio was a UK fan and he said.....nobody beats UK but UK now that is the best excuse I've heard yet. UK beat them self, is that not a dandy.

All he is saying is if every team in the country plays their best game then Kentucky wins. Did Kentucky play their best game today by shooting 28 -3 pointers and only making 6? No they did not. Kentucky has the best top 7 players in the country including the best player in the country. Does that mean they are a lock to win? No, but I will take my chances with them versus any other team. Kentucky and North Carolina for the title, provided they don't meet in the Final Four first.

It is probably better for UK to have lost today, maybe it will motivate them. But if they play the way they did in the SEC tournament, they don't have a shot at the Nation Championship. Also, Lunardi currently has UofL the 4 seed in the same region as UK, that would be a lot of fun. UofL seems to hit their stride at the right time, and if UK played the way they did today I wouldn't be surprised at all if UofL wnn. Elnut does make a good point though, when UK is firing on all cylinders I don't think anyone can beat them, hard to play perfect for 6 games though...

Kentucky needed that loss...they needed to taste it, etc before the NCAA. They'll still get the #1 seed.

    Where's Louisville going to be seeded...#3? #4? or ?????

I see a repeat of 96' as well. I'll take uk, vandy, north Carolina, and Missouri for the final 4. Uk and Carolina play for it all and uk wins in an epic game.

Yep I been hearing that as well and IMO....it's the sign of a sore loser. I have seen teams beat themselves but today I saw a team get out played when it counted. Vandy had more to prove ( at least they played like it) and just never gave up. Congrats to Vandy!!

    Re: Let the Excuses flow....

Congrats to Vandy....They flat out outplayed the Cats and deserved the win...It's always hard to beat a good team 3 times in a season...Always has been, always will be...I'm sure Tim can tell you the same thing in high school districts where you play a team twice in the regular season and then again in the district tourny

I hope the Cats haven't peaked at the wrong time this year....In March it's always about who's playing their best ball of the year, and I'm afraid that was 2-3 weeks ago for UK...The loss may turn it around for them and get their heads back on track, but if they play the way they did in the SEC tourny UConn will oust them in the second round

All of that being said, does it really pay off to be the #1 overall seed in the tourny....I knew it as soon as I saw their bracket, and now all the "experts" are agreeing that UK couldn't have gotten a tougher draw in the tourny...Granted they put people where they do based on matchups, with UConn knocking UK out last year, and IU handing UK their first and only loss of the regular season, and of course dUKe in the bottom of their bracket for obvious reasons

Louisville couldn't have gotten a much easier draw as 4 seed...They got paired in a bracket with the weakest (IMO) 1 seed and no real (IMO) Cinderella teams

It's all shaking up to be a fun few weeks and I can't wait to get the action started...and even though I'm not a U of L fan I'd love to see a UK/UL final...Not only would it represent our state well, it'd make for a helluva topic on this discussion board

    Re: Let the Excuses flow....

UK is an awesome team no question if and or but's. However today they just got beat. The team that executed better at the end of the game won the game and that was Vanderbilt.

I to agree with Woody and Tim and I have said it all year. This is a classy bunch of kids. I'm not a huge Jones fan, but what's there not to like about Davis, Gilchrist, Lamb and Miller. They just go play....Davis is a number one NBA pick hands down, this kid is unreal good, just unreal.

Louisville will not go far. Their defense is nasty but they just can't score the basketball. If they run into a Long Beach or Mich state or Missouri its lights out. I am happy with the BE championship and that was quite an feat for this group...

Mark, I think having people healthy has made a huge difference, as has the play of Siva. Oh, keep in mind, we already beat Long Beach St. once this year.

Do not be suprised if the UK/UConn match up doesn't happen. UConn has talent, but I question their heart. They flat out quit against Louisville in their game last month. It would not suprise me at all if Iowa St. beats them.
