    Re: Hitch hikers

My son and I were fishing on a stretch of Barren River about a week ago and KDFW put in a boat and started shocking up fish. They weren't collecting the fish, but they were collecting a few lamprey to send to their lab. They said that they wanted to make sure that the lamprey that were being reported were the kind that were supposed to be in there and not some non-native type.

We saw them shock up a nice muskie, and I had a few stunned hybrid float by me. They collected a couple of lamprey off of the muskie.

One thing that I thought was cool, was that KDFW made a very wide loop around us while we were fishing so as not to mess up our fishing trip.

Well, if you had one on, you must have been throwing the right bait. May just have to use a leader to keep her from breaking off your line.

My son landed 7 in two weeks time and 5 of them were on a homemade bait that he's been making. He makes them out of fox squirrel tails that he collected during squirrel season.

Here's a couple of the fish he caught and a picture of one of his baits. He's sold a few of them.

I hope you land that muskie! ...and, I hope you release it
