Tim Tebow is a CLASS ACT, John Elway is NOT

On Tuesday John Elway said "If I wanted somebody to marry my daughter then Tim Tebow is the guy but to QB this team, he just isn't the guy". Tebow is the reason that Elway still has a job. Last year 1-4 and headed to being a laughing stock in the NFL before Tebow was given a chance and led the team to the playoffs and a first round win over the Steelers. Tebow's jersey sales were #2 in the league last year behind Aaron Rodgers of the Packers. In comes Manning, the only guy the Broncos get to make the fans forget about Tebow. I am fine with Manning and agree he should have signed with the Broncos, but Manning is good enough that Tebow could learn from Manning for a few years before given the chance to stat upon Mannings retirement.

After all this, Tebow thanked the team, fans, coaches and Elway for giving him a chance. Said nothing but good things about the team and was looking forward to his opportunity in New York. I wonder what the real reason for getting Tebow to come to the Jets is? Run the Wildcat offense in certain situations or help the locker room get a better player that can help change the culture of the Jets. Never heard of a 2nd string QB being the leader of a football team.

I like Tebow and understand he won't ever be the typical drop back gun it QB that the league loves to see. But for what he stands for and how he carries himself, he is a role model to all kids. My son loves Tebow and there are 1,000s of other athletes worse than Tebow that my kid could follow, but I am glad it is Tebow.

PS, my daughter turns 23 today and I too have no problem with Tebow marrying my daughter.

Yep I'm a tebow fan for sure. Is the deal with the Jets set in stone? Thought I heard that a problem was being worked out and Jacksonville was back in the mix?

The deal is done. The hang up was that the Jets did not read the fine print in Tebow's contract. Tebow was paid $5 Million dollars in incentive money ahead of schedule based on his results last season. The Broncos felt they should get that money back but the Jets did not want to pay it. Jacksonville did read the fine print and was ready to pay the Broncos $5 Million back to get the trade done but was not offering as many draft picks as the Jets. It ended up the Jets and Broncos split the $5 Million so the Jest paid $2.5 Million to the Broncos plus the draft picks. ESPN said that Elway asked Tebow's input on which team he would rather go to between the Jets and Jags. As wishy washy as Elway has been all last season on Tebow makes me wonder if he actually took Tebow's input. Tebow is from Jacksonville, played College in Jacksonville and it would make sense for him to go back to Jacksonville. Plus Jacksonville needs a starting QB where as the Jets just gave Mark Sanchez a contract extension. As great a player as Elway was I would not trust him as far as I could throw him.

Gotcha..thanks for the update. I agree about Elway. Maybe the media has put that thought into my head but I don't really trust him. Just watching him speak the other day made me think he is full of crap but who knows. In the long run I'm glad Tebow is away from Elway and the Broncos. Maybe Tebow will find his groove in New York? Good wishes for Tim and his future in the NFL.
