We have no need for a draft. Rather, we need to NEVER ELECT Idiots to office. The constitution of this great nation specifies that our FEDERAL government is to protect us.......THAT means funding the military to protect during peacetime and wartime. It is a **** shame that Bush and Clinton chose to be short sighted and cut the military when the threat of Islamic Terrorism was at its greatest.

Even now, we are cutting spending on the military........which is a completely idiotic idea.

If you think the cuts in the 90's were bad, you should see what's coming down the pike! It doesn't look good. I survived the draw down of the 90's and it wasn't pretty. This is even worse. The Army has to cut back because the administration is cutting funding. It makes sense to keep the best and brightest soldiers with the most potential for future service. How do you decide that? Here is one of the new rules. One bad evaluation, one alcohol or drug related incident, or one domestic violence incident and you are barred from reenlistment. The Authority to bar any soldier from reenlist has been delegated to the brigade commanders. These commanders can bar a soldier from reenlistment for any reason they see fit. Of course they are going to dust off AR 600-9 and start putting soldiers out for over weight and PT failures. The QMP boards will be going stronger than ever and they have introduced the QSP Boards for the upcoming E-9 board that convenes in June. The QSP will be a part of every senior enlisted board in the future. These boards will review the records of MSG an 1SG for evidence of stagnation in that rank and potential for future service. There's more coming but it's not written in stone yet because they don't know how many they have to cut. If sequestration occurs in Jan. 13 they will have to cut to the bone.
