Lake Patoka cabin and fishing question

I am wanting to get to a lake somewhere in mid April and had a few question about Patoka.
I haven't been to Patoka in a long time. As in.... the last time I fished Patoka, we could catch northern pike trolling. Anyway, I was wondering if there are any cabins on the lake with a dock that I can rent and if the Crappie and Bluegill have spawned yet. I am hoping to go to Patoka or Ky. Lake but not sure which would be best after all of this warm weather. Thanks in advance, Tech

Patoka does have floating cabins available at the marina.

I fish Patoka a lot due to distance and I like that there are no private houses or docks on the lake....but if I was able to choose between Patoka and KY Lake for a fishing vacation....ALWAYS go with KY Lake! You will catch much more fish and bigger fish on KY Lake than Patoka.

Thanks guys and Atom, I always go to Ky. Lake and was thinking of going somewhere closer as it takes me 5 1/2 hours to get to Ky. Lake where it takes betweew 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. for Patoka. Does anyone know water temps or what the crappie and bass are doing?

Will probably get a cabin when I get there. My be a solo trip for me, does anyone want to fish or are going to the Lake in the next couple of weeks? Let me know.

    Thanks Tech

There are several cabin around the lake. One place is real close to Osbourn ramp which puts you above 145. We have stayed there and it is a nice place.

Water temps were 58 to 62 today. Couldn't find many bass shallow surprisingly, so went to some mid depths and found some. Walleye are nice and shallow on main lake points with grass though.

The dnr has been stocking them for a few years now. I have caught smaller ones before, but these were over 3 lbs. Had several in that weight class too. We caught them while bass fishing, so they weren't too difficult to catch. Had several follow the lure straight back to the boat, but a color change got them to grab it. I've never specifically targeted walleye before, but from my understanding they might have been up on these points spawning, even though the water seemed a bit warm. But I'm not a walleye fisherman. They were fat though.

Once you start to catch some of those three pounders and fillet them and eat them you will turn in to a walleye fisherman real fast. They are some of the best tasting fish I've ever had.

haha I bet. We put them back though, so hopefully in the next few years there will be a healthy population that we can start harvesting. Sure would have been nice to take this crankbait sucker home though! Just a tad bit big for the livewell...
