    Guist Creek

Heading today to one of my (least) favorite lakes. I prefer going to Guist post-cold front and in the middle of the day with bluebird conditions, just to make it challenging.

Anyone have any info they can share about Guist?

I have fished this lake a lot over the years and in my opinion fish it early and late in the year for best results. From may to september i dont have much luck but in feb, mar, oct, nov i catch some nice fish. This lake also get a ton of pressure and i think fish are conditioned to it. There are tourneys there every week from mar. To sept.

Fished 2pm to 6pm and caught 4 fish, nothing very big.

Main lake: water temp started out 64-65, stained, 3 ft. visibility. Got up to 66-67 by the end of the day. North end of the lake past the bridge: couple degrees cooler as a rule, more stained.

Saw no bedding fish nor much activity up in the creeks. Graphed lots of baitfish on the main lake, and the bait we marked in the creeks were about midway back.

Didn't find anything you could call a pattern. Fish came on a downsized jig, crankbait, and spinnerbait.

I will admit that I never have any luck at all on this lake, but, I did finally have a good day last Tueday and caught this 5 4oz LM. Dropped it off at the taxidermy on the way home. That lake can be very tough but there are good fish in there so if patience isnt your thing then it can get frustrating.

Yep there are some good ones in there. Pretty fish. Looks like it has what we used to call a Barkley black spot on it...?
