Willisburg Lake?

I would start by driving past it. Taylorsville is less than ten miles from there and you might actually catch a fish. I have been to willisburg twice this year and have not had a sniff, even when you do catch fish there it is normally just one or two. Willisburg has some big fish in it but they are hard to catch.

I have a tournament there next weekend, and I'm going in blind. LOL I've caught some good fish there, but few and far between.

Can anyone at unlock the secrets to this lake. For me, its either on or off, no in between. Surely someone has success on this beast.

Well its been a few years ago but we usually brought in some good fish by fishing far up lake in the spring. That area looks good and it really didn't matter how you fished it. If you bass fish alot you can figure what to throw when you get there. Some of those coves have stumps in the middle and tossing cranks, C-rigs and jigs can locate them. Good looking wood and creek channel drops to fish as well. We had a few tourneys that took 11lbs or more to place and that was with 4 fish limits. I have had many days pre-fishing with 13lbs or more with my best 4 by just "junk" fishing anything that looked good.
My belief is that the secret to that lake is trolling motor down and fish like crazy. I know this doesn't help alot but it's been a few years. We even went back a few times after the tourney to fish for fun because the fishing was so dang good.

Fished here a couple weeks ago for the first time. Fish hit everything from a soft plastic craw to zara spook and crank. Mostly fished straight back from ramp towards back of the lake. Actually had a bass break off pitching a zoom super speed craw between some brush. Fish would have easily gone 6-7 lbs, felt just as big as a 7 lber I caught last year elsewhere. Depressing when you have new 10lb test mono snap on a monster bass. Good luck, I'll be visiting this lake again soon.

A friend and I went after work for a couple of hours yesterday. We were just killing some time. We caught 6, 2 were keepers. I seem to have better luck towards the end of the lake. I like to use smaller baits when I fish there. Last night I caught everything on 4" zoom lizzards.

I plan on trying it out this next week for bluegill and/or catfish with the kids. We hit Bloomfield Park lake today for 2 hrs without even a nibble. Ten other people there and only one bluegill was caught. The highlight of the day was watching KDFWR doing samples with the shocking tool. it was pretty cool watching them scoop up fish. Most that I saw were in the 10" range....guessing trout. But I did see some 15" or so fish that looked like catfish.

As I read the post, I see you can put a boat in at Willisburg. That's what I'll be doing soon then.
