What lake and what month produces the most consistent topwater and hybrid surface feeding-jumps action? Barren in July? Taylorsville in September? Ohio River in September/October? Nolin in May-June?
If you like to night fish, Barren is hot right now for topwater. The hybrids are up shallow chasing the alewise while spawning. The same thing should be happening at Cumberland as well. Try jointed Red-Fins, Thundersticks and Slivers at C-land. Try smaller versions of same baits at Barren. Bandit 200's in shad colors are good if they are not on top.
I haven't tried yet myself, but I hear the bite is also good on the Ohio below the dams right now. Silver Buddies, Pop-r's, and jig/grub combos should all work. If you don't have any visible topwater actions, try hitting the current seams and eddies below the lower gates at McAlpine (Louisville) with same baits. Live and/or cut bait can also be good
