I wonder if this is because of CAFE standards or Market demands.......or both.

I personally think the high cost of fuel has FORCED companies to make vehicles more efficient. I think the big automotive companies would have made better/efficient cars solely based on market forces.......

BUT, we will never know. A good test would be to get rid of CAFE standards all together and see if the efficiency trend continues.
