Asfor the mdeia comment, that may be the dumbest post I have ever read on here (not counting Mills, Coombro or Demodan of course). Heck, Charlie Strong banned the local media from U of L football last week for not covering them enough. Of coursre, someone as media savvy as you about Louisville media probly knew all about this down in Pendleton County.
Yep,we don't get our news till two weeks later on the new telegraph lines we just got here in Pendleton county, but by golly there's a big Ol' Tom gobblin' across the hollar so I won't get to check that telegraph till tomorrow

Mark as much as you hate on Calipari with all the cheating insinuations,I'd think you'd have something to say about Charlie Strong hiring former Miami Asst Coach Clint Hurtt, old news but interesting little tidbit
    P.S. I haven't had a drop since May 31st,1995

LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB Fox 41) –

A University of Louisville football coach has been connected to a brewing scandal at the University of Miami. A former Miami booster claims he showered players with all sorts of improper gifts and benefits. He says Clint Hurtt, now with U of L, knew all about it, and even used the booster to lure players to Miami.

Nevin Shapiro, a convicted felon serving time for a 900 million dollar ponzi scheme, has made accusations that could devastate the Miami Hurricane football program. He told Yahoo Sports he provided dozens of players with gifts like cars and cash. Shapiro also says he was good friends with U of L defensive line coach Clint Hurtt, a Miami assistant from 2006 to 2009.

"Clint was the liaison between myself and recruits that were coming to check out Miami. He would arrange for them to come check out my house," said Shapiro.

Shapiro owned a $6 million mansion, and told Yahoo Hurtt brought players there during recruiting trips. He also says on several occasions he paid for Hurtt to take recruits to expensive restaurants.

Shapiro claims he even loaned Hurtt thousands of dollars, which the coach eventually repaid.

"We haven't even had a game played before his name is thrown into all of these allegations," said ESPN 680 host Jason Anderson.

The scandal was the hot topic Wednesday afternoon on local sports talk radio shows like Anderson's.

"Honestly, I think Charlie Strong could get another guy to do as good a job, and maybe they should separate themselves from him in case something does come out later," said one caller.

Anderson says that might be easier said than done. Hurtt was named recruiter of the year for the class of 2011 by ESPN, but his methods are now being questioned.

"Louisville's got the best recruiting class they've ever had," said Anderson. "and he's named the ESPN recruiter of the year, and they got ten kids out of Miami? Huh. Is something going on here that we don't know about?"

U of L's Athletic Director Tom Ulrich did release a statement Wednesday evening. He says, "We are aware of the Yahoo! Sports story and take these allegations very seriously. The NCAA has informed us that they wish to speak with Clint Hurtt regarding his time at the University of Miami and we will cooperate fully throughout this process."

He says NCAA bylaws will prevent the university from making any further comment.

LOL Well done JCB. Don't sweat it though because KYfanatic is just that. He can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about UK (except their history of NCAA punishment) but knows nothing about sports! He is one of those experts who never actually played the game!

You might check the roster of a school named Simon Kenton in Independence,Ky that won one State Championship back in my day. While I never went any farther than High School sports, two of my brothers had Div I scholarships in baseball and basketball, one played in the minor leagues, the other was an NCAA Referee.
I have three cousins that had major league contracts in baseball as well,Ralph Wright played for the Cincinnati Reds until he lost two fingers in a farming accident,Butch Hayes played for the Pittsburgh Pirates until they wanted him to change from an outfielder to pitcher and wouldn't let him take batting practice,he quit. My mothers 1st cousin was a pitcher for the Reds you might have heard of,Tom Browning.
I played ball against these guys growing up.

Ol' Tim always wants to throw out UK's history, but always seems to forget that UL has had three major infractions in the past 15 years,UK hasn't had any infractions since 1988.
What UK's history has to do with Charlie Strong hiring a known cheater is beyond me,but that whole football mess at UL smells like a dead carp.

Except that 1.) Louisville hasn't had three major infractions. 2) They didn't receive a post season ban. I have explained this to you on this very board and even posted a link to the tournament bracket that proved you wrong. They affair with Scooter McCray using a credit card to guarantee Nate Johnson's dad a hotel room was dropped to a minor infraction because the credit card was never actually charged. Nate's dad paid for the room himself but didn't have a credit card that he needed to give the motel. NCAA reversed their ruling based on the evidence, dropped it to a minor violation and lifted the one year post season ban.

Now, entire seasons vacated, post season bans, the first ever death penalty (it wasn't called that then)....we know who has the market cornered on that.

Interesting you played on that Simon Kenton team. I was unable to find a roster, but did catch the last few minutes of a documentary about that team a few weeks ago.

Oh yeah, please elaborate on the "football mess at U of L." Do you mean the mess of buidling the program back to a perinniel top 25 program again? The mess of bringing in all these recruits? Or do you mean they mess they are going to make of UK again this September?

I guess UL needs something to hang on too

We'll see how they do in the rematch.

Of course it's okay for the rest of the UK Hatin' louisville sports media to bash UK,just blame Matt Jones. The media in Louisville is so biased it's a joke and obviously ran by Tom Jurich and Rick Pitino.
I see Arkansas had enough integrity to fire a coach over breaking the morality clause in their contract.
And so we did, another trip to the tool shed......

    Re: Baseball beatdown

And I thought Basketball was the only thing that got UK and UofL fans in a tizzy. Looks like I better start studying up on this Baseball thing so I can get in trouble again or at least keep the pot stirred up a bit. It is a long time until October but I might as well get it in now:

Yes IU and Uof L are pre-season top 5 and maybe 1-2, yes UK is barely preseason top 25 with no experience at all, yes UK will barely be able to win 20 games this year BUT 2012 NCAA Basketball Champions BABY!!!!!

For now this is all I got. Until Pete Rose is put into the Hall or Fame I can't watch Baseball.

    .

Yes we will! Cards 10 Cats 2!

Let's see, Cards win both games by a combined score of 22-2. I guess you have excuses for that as well Glenn? Were they saving their best batters for SEC play? UK is having a good season, but the Cards have been there for a number of years.
