Looks like Lexington anglers are always the forgotten group to KDFW.
Just my opinion about overall fishing conditions around Lexington. I've yet found a good spot around it within 1 hour drive in two years.
Ky River, Dix River, Elkhorn Creek, Stoner Creek, Hickman Creek, Herrington Lake, Taylorsville Lake, Cave Run Lake, Licking River, Wilgreen Lake, Lake Reba, Silver Creek, Cedar Creek Lake all within an hours drive of Lexington just to name a few. Not to mention Jacobson Park (granted it stinks). But there are plenty of fishing opportunities in the area. Some places will naturally be limited however, you do have to have a stream or adequate water source, but IMO there are plenty, and also not much more the KDFWR can really do to increase this, they can't create streams in Lexington.

there are some great holes of water around the central part of ky... Stoner creek is 30 or 40 minutes and you can rent a boat if you don't have one, a great little spot that is good to get to know.
Where in the heck is Stoner Creek? I hear so much talk about it on here and have asked where it is on here but still don't know where it is. I could look on a map I guess but I for some reason I want to find out where it is right here on this forum. If you don't want to tell me that is OK. Maybe it is a secret place for central KY fisherman. I promise I will never go there. I just want to know where it is in case I happen to drive by or fall in it someday.
Every time I hear the name Stoner Creek on here I think of the Book/Movie Atlas Shrugged where everyone asked "Who is John Gault" but nobody knows.
I have subscribed to this thread so if anybody comes up with a location I will be notified via email.
There are two places that I know of to launch a boat in stoner one is in downtown Paris, that is ikes boat ramps and another just outside of town in north Middletown called frymans boat dock. Stoner is a fun place to fish and you never know you might just lock up with a hog leg in that creek.Where in the heck is Stoner Creek? The fryman pool also has a good little camping site, no utility hookups but great spot to camp for a few days, I guess you can put just about any size boat on it, I have an old pontoon and I launch it there now 'n' then.
Ky River, Dix River, Elkhorn Creek, Stoner Creek and Herrington Lake are mostly surrounded by private properties. I don't have a boat and surely don't want to be shoot dead. Taylorsville Lake has great public access sites. It's just too far away to explore it thoroughly. Ideally I'd like some places I can cast a few times after work everyday with decent results.

You need to go to south elkhorn if that's your situation there are several places to access the creek. Just jump in the water and start walking and you will catch some quality smallmouth and largemouth.Ky River, Dix River, Elkhorn Creek, Stoner Creek and Herrington Lake are mostly surrounded by private properties. This is great! Rainbow trout in Floyd's Fork will be awesome! The FINS lakes are great, but trout fishing is meant to be done from a stream.
