Question about amish

I don't object to folks living their life the way they choose, don't know anything about the federal taxes they pay but they don't buy gasoline or diesel fuel but still use the roads, personally I believe these folks should be required to pay the road taxes the rest of us have to pay.

Some of the Amish and Mennonites do buy gas. Every time I go to one of their communities, I see a couple of them driving old pickup trucks with children and teenage boys riding in the back. The boys are always dressed like they have been working, wearing dusty overalls and well worn hats.

As for the SMV signs (safety orange triangles) attached to the back of the buggies, I guess their objection is for vanity reasons. I think if I were riding in one of them, I had rather have the SMV sign attached than to have a car slam into the back of the buggy.

I'm with you, if they are going to use our roads they should be paying road taxes.
