    Creek Muskie

I am looking at leasing a track of land in Lewis county for deer and turkey hunting. The land owner mentioned that there is a creek on the back of the property that has a decent amount of fish in it. After some digging I found out that the creek is called the Kinniconick Creek. I goggled the name and found out that this is a known creek for Muskie and Smallies. There are very few types of fish in KY that I haven't caught but Muskie is one of them! i have never had the chance to go after them the right way. I looked at the aerial view of the property and the creek looks like it has a few real good pools and some areas with faster moving water. But where are the Muskie? and how do I catch them? I looked on KDFWR website and they said the best time to catch them is at night, but with what? if anyone can lend some advice it would be much appreciated!

Fish for bass. The muskies will find you.

I fish Kinni often. As above posted fish for bass and the muskie will find you. They will typically be in the deeper pools as the creek warms up. We catch them on lipless crank baits and top water plugs. I have also caught them on spinner baits. It's a good creek, but the recent floods have it all tore up and has made it hard to float.

Ditto, bass size plugs and spinners will catch creek muskies. Look for em in and around deeper holes. If you want to select for bigger bass and muskies, go bigger with bigger baits. But you don't need great big "muskie" baits for creeks. I think the big splashdown of one of these on a little creek would hurt your chances.
