Barren is in the mid 60's water temperature and visibility two foot or so most fish have already spawned or are just coming off and can be caught on a variety of bait mostly creature baits because they are in the transition of moving to deep water to school up and the creature baits offer easy prey and a way to refuel after the taxing spawn. Some top water fish are being caught as well but few and far between lake levels are slightly lower than normal but are rising due to our last little rain over the weekend.

What types of places would you be fishing? Not specific places. Just, what types of areas would i head to once I get on the lake. Preferably up above Narrows in skaggs

I've been catching limits everyday on the main lake, and believe the ones I've been catching are prespawn. I think fish are available to be caught on whatever pattern you prefer, and from the other post it sounds like you can catch some spawners and post spawners as well. I haven't targeted those or seen any on beds or noticed any fry. They're shallow early and late and will get out deeper if it's sunny and calm in the clearer water. You can do no wrong, and it's some of the best and consistent fishing I've seen in long time here.

Water is 64 and clear on the main lake and stained to slightly murky in the creeks.

    Re: Barren Reports

I've concentrated more on the steeper chunk rock banks, or steeper gravel banks, and haven't fished much up in in the heads of the coves, but most boats are. Some days they had been concentrated on the points, but the last couple of days they have been scattered down along straight stretches of banks not on any noticeable cover, and not as much on the points. Others I've talked to have caught them up in the heads of the larger coves on the shallower gravel banks.

    Re: Barren Reports

90% of the fish i am catching are on chunk rocks along the large rock walls anywhere on the lake points are also producing but they aren't producing the numbers of fish like the rock walls the big island off the end of the peninsula seems to be holding a very large number of fish most averaging 2-4 pounds but the longer the bank the more fish obviously we are pitching straight to the bank and bouncing it till it drops into the deeper water and when it hits the bottom just twitch away.

incredible day today with around 25-30 keepers, still fishing the same stuff as noted above. Can't hardly believe it myself, and I was there, so I expect some skepticism. Not sure how much longer it can last.

Give it about a month and hopefully by mid may the water temps and weather will start cooperating and we will all be enjoying the deep crankin that no matter how much we deny it we all love it. Personally I'm ready for some hard hitting action.
