Ever have to change brushes in a Minn Kota Trolling Motor? Easy to take a part but a bear to get the armature between the brushes on the way in? Most Minn Kota's have a cardboard ring in them they call a brush spacer. Here's what it's there for and makes life so much easier when reassembling the motor.

"There should be a cardboard ring that holds the brushes apart until the the armature has pushed the ring out of the way and the brushes rest against the commutator.
