Sounds like a blast. They still catch shellcrackers there?

What Is the ramp like there? I read where someone mentioned that the ramp is extremely short and it is easy to drop your trailer off the end of the ramp.

I would like to try Malone, but I am inexperienced launching my boat and would hate to have it end in a nightmare.

We stayed in one of the A Frames Cabins at Shady cliff resort, and used that ramp.
The guy told us the same thing that worked there if you go back to fare with the trailer the wheels will drop of. I backed up short of what I normally would then winched the boat on and had no problems, Stay a little short on what you normally do when launching

Fish the lake my whole life...hear all these crappie reports has me really thinking...really! The state ramp is good...you can find several places to rent on owners rental page at several lakes that includes Malone...use the state ramp and have no worry...from state ramp to shady cliff...10 min boat ride or less..40mph
