Anybody fish around Valley View Ferry?

We will be putting the kayaks in at Valley View Ferry on the Kentucky River Thursday after work to check the area out. We'll head upstream a bit and float back down around dark. I was curious if anyone has fished that area recently and what the bite is like? Usually target SMB or LMB, but really just whatever is biting for the day. Any advice would be appreciated.

I haven't fished that in years but just a little bit upstream is tates creek. There is usually good fishing at the mouth and up in the creek.
