I am looking for a nice bass boat. Atleast 17 feet. With good running motor. Perferably a johnson or evenrude 150 or would like something smaller to save gas. Bass tracker would be perfect. But anything is better than nothing lol.
looking to spend any where between 4500 to 8000. Price doesnt matter if boat is worth it.![]()

This is the first boat that I am buying. I want a good nice dependable boat. Something I can pay off in a year or two. but at same time last me a few years untill i know exactly what I want. Thats why i said a bass tracker would be nice. If anyone has a 04 or newer tracker i am willing to pay for it. but nothing crazy. when i can go get a brand new one for 14000 to 16000.
First offf its a pkg deal like nitro ,thru bass pro generally, none of them are rated for 150 hp in the 17 ft range, all are fairly cheap entry level boats,or specialty boats like as in panfish or crappie. For performance and resale dont buy one with less than near rated hp,can be found with 28-48 hp all over the place,17 are rated like 115-135.It is a protected water type boat with low freeboard.Nothing wrong with wanting one for a first boat, but buy one with the near the max hp,and with all the bells stops and whistles all over craigs list and iboats, com for 2k to 8 k,have someone with some boat exp go with you if its used, older alum boats pop rivets or leak sometimes.Go only with wheel steering not stick, and only 60 hp up then if on say 16 ft,other wise paying top dollar for less.Consider electronics, trolling motor a 12 v is worth less than a 24 v.Used trackers meaning no disrespct are a dime a doz, meaning its a buyers market.
Not attempting to talk you out of one, their are however many 17 ft fiberglass ,older possibly with 115- 150 hp motors, age somewhat is what determines price,to old your stuck somewhwere but 16 -17 ft boats there isnt much of a market for as everyone wants 20 ft and be had at a a bargain.Again take along someone who knows something about boats but anything from 4 k to 8 k can buy a decent 17 fter.
I happen to have a 17 ft hydosport like many of the older boats no longer mfg.got a great deal due to its age its an 86 garage kept with 150 yamaha low hrs at that,no not trying to sell it,not promoting it,but bargains are out there.Have under 3 k in it,trust it to go 40 miles each way and start every time, eventually like all used things it wont one day,but so far so good.Runs tad over 60 2 up,yamaha 2.6 gets good gas mileage for its hp,evinrude 115 in same class great motor, most of your trackers are merc low hp which also are miserly on fuel.
But if you buy a tracker with a 28 hp elpto etc you will be sorry, get mucho hp as possible with one, exception is where one has lakes with hp limits such as 9.9,or just fish small waters
I have a very nice 2001 bass tracker 165 with a mercury 50 on it which is very dependable and great on gas. Im asking 6200 for it. If your interested i can send you some pictures, its a very nice boat and well worth the look.
Thanks
