I'm heading that way on the 15th and would like to hear how your trip was and what they are biting on.
Water temps dropped back into the upper 70's. Bluebird skies and N by NM winds either killed the bite or moved them deeper. Several boats sitting WAY off the shallow mud flats.
Could you give me an example of some mud flats on Barren? I am not asking for your spots, I'm just not familiar with the flats on Barren. How do I go about finding them? I don't have that good of depth finders. thanks.
You will have no problems seeing them.
Not even gonna lie with the crazy temps at night and extreme highs during the days fish are very scattered and are on the shallow mud flats just look for spots where theres very little deviation from the bank out and these will be your mud flats also anywhere you can find cover fish the crap out of it these temps have fish holding tight to cover weve caught 90% of ours in the past two weeks practically hitting brush and logs and such with our baits the top water bite is also present around visible brush such as with a spittin type bait like a popper or something. Carolina rigging is producing fish but use a pretty good size leader around in the two foot range and work it slow. jigs are doing pretty good we still have a lot of fish in the real shallow areas around rock walls id say if you can fish it fish it you never know whats swimming around heck tuesday i caught a 2 pound channel cat on a texas rigged baby brush hawd whod of thunk it
Thanks for the tips. The bite was very scattered today not too many fish caught. Most caught on c-rigs and some caught on buzzbaits in the grass. Even caught some prespawn bass deep on jigs.
