Anyone have an idea what the duty is on a case of beer when going to Canada? Headed that way soon don't know weather to pack extra and pay the duty or purchase there at a premium.

Yes, but you have to pay duty on any additional beer or liquor. what do they charge?
Going to Canada in June and have been researching a few things myself. I do recall seeing duty fees posted on the Canada Border Services Patrol website. Don't recall how I got to it, but here's the link to their site:

I would use their "Search" link near the top of their home page and try searching on "duty fees", "Liquor", etc.... It's out there. Good luck and have a safe trip
Why don't you just buy beer in Canada? They make some good stuff...Molson, Labatts, Moosehead. I could understand if you were wanting to bring some bourbon, but beer in Canada? Just get it there.
putting in Minnesota taking the boat to customs then heading north to the lodge. The closest place to buy beer charges $3.50 each, or at least that's what I'm told.
Not sure on the exact numbers but It is definitely cheaper to pay the duty on the beer and booze compared to buying it there. We screwed up and ran out of beer of few years ago in Mitchells Bay and had to pay over $40 a case for buschlite. Normally you can take a case of beer or one bottle of liquor without duty per guy. The length of stay also may factor in on how much beer per guy. If you are staying 2 weeks it may be reasonable to have 2 cases with you. Also depends on what type of mood the custom officials are in.
