Well... here's the report. Got back yesterday. Water was calm and 72. Duue to some motor troubles... my fault not the boats, we got a late start. caught a couple close up to the bank but nothing worth taking a picture of. Tried trolling near the dam and had no luck. At night we put out lights and had mutiple hits but they were really timid about taking the bait. Caught only one.
On a side note the amount of bait fish that came to the lights was incredible! I have been taking this trip for roughly 12 years and have never seen anything like it. I was really surprised that we didn't get anything underneath or in the bait ball. I'm going back this weekend with my dad. Any thoughts on what we should do if we find these shad again just after dark?
Cast a redfin or a thunder stick or a rico down any rock wall bank and hold on. You will hear the fish busting top water.
This seems to be a regular occurence this spring. My guess is due to such a mikd winter there was no shad die off to thin the numbers.Well... here's the report. Got back yesterday. Thunderstick are a lot like swim baits right? about 4 -5 in. long some are jointed some are not? And I thought Rico's were top water baits. Did a little trolling along the walls with a 4 in green and yellow jointed swim bait and had no luck. I will try the blue one maybe this weekend, and get right up next to the wall and cast. what sizes would you reccomend?
