    Richard Lugar's Parting Words

I'm curious what those of you on the other side of the political fence think of Mr. Lugar's parting words after being ousted by Tea Party candidate Richard Mourdock. In case you haven't read them, here they are:

I think this says it all........

Ultimately, the re-election of an incumbent to Congress usually comes down to whether voters agree with the positions the incumbent has taken. I knew that I had cast recent votes that would be unpopular with some Republicans and that would be targeted by outside groups.

These included my votes for the TARP program, for government support of the auto industry, for the START Treaty, and for the confirmations of Justices Sotomayor and Kagan. I also advanced several propositions that were considered heretical by some, including the thought that Congressional earmarks saved no money and turned spending power over to unelected bureaucrats and that the country should explore options for immigration reform.

It was apparent that these positions would be attacked in a Republican primary. But I believe that they were the right votes for the country, and I stand by them without regrets, as I have throughout the campaign.

Beautifully written, but it reeks of thinly disguised bitterness. Mr. Lugar was taken to task by the people he was elected to represent, and his get-along/go-along mindset cost him the election.

With the exception of the left coast, mega city residents, and New England the majority of people of this country want no part of the far left, limp wristed, free spending, liberal mess the Democratic party has become. The lion's share of people who actually carry the load in this country don't want to compromise with Dems, they want their asses out of power.

The louder the media and Democrats yell about right wing extremists, the easier it is to see how left wing extreme the Democrat party has become. Mr. Obama, Harry Reid, and company make Bill Clinton look like a conservative.

Mr Lugar is doing the same thing the liberals do, trying to label ANYONE who disagrees with them an extremist. His opinion the TEA party will cause the republican party to become a minority illustrates how out of touch he is, and how badly he needed to be voted out.

Unless they move back toward the center, it's the Democrat party who will be become the minority. We are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY and most of us want no part of the nanny state the Democrat party is trying to create.
