laurel river lake fishing Tips and help

well i have finally started fishing laurel again and seem to be drawing a blank on some occasion's as to what to do .For instance this previous week i figured for sure they would be on ,overcast light rain hardly any boats out.But boy was i wrong, caught about 6 with only 3 of those keeper size .Tried cranks, drop shot, shakey head even a jig just could not find no fish.

I been trying to fish toward the main lake area as i have never fished it so been going up to craigs creek ,indian creek areas along with spruce creek but still not been able to get anything going. So i know they are more people that seem to not be doing so good here so i thought this would be a nice post to help each other out and share some tips ,locations ,insight etc etc. to help each other out.As most people i have talked to give hardly any information .

You wont see very much info anywhere on laurel. B/c the guys who have figured it out aren't going to tell b/c laurel is a hard lake to fish. But if you do figure it out you can win a 3 fish tourn. with 12-15 pounds. Laurel is a phenomenal lake. just stay on it and keep trying different things. deeper

I have been down there the last two weekends in a row and have 1 trout to show for it. Same thing last year. I love this lake but I have to say I will probably never go back. Some harvard genius in the KDFWR thought that it would be a good idea to change up the stocking schedule and put 30K less fish in it. Ever since it's been complete garbage. If i do go back it will be to try out walleye. Also I have noticed in the past few years the amount of stupid drunk tubers and jet skiers has gone through the roof. Be careful.

I have had similar experiences aqua,it seems years back i could go down put together a solid 14-16 pound bag without to much effort. Now it seems as if i have to fight and scratch with everything i have to put together a limit of fish.Granted the amount of Tournaments ran through that lake does not help at all. This past saturday i had heard reports of 5 going on and one at that night so you can imagine the fishing i had going sunday morning ...Slim pickings

And i agree I was their sunday and you could barley fish for the amount of Skiers,Pontoons,Pleasure boaters. And i am for everyone enjoying the lake but why would a Ski boat Come all the way up to the end of a cove where i am fishing a flat and turn around about 15 ft from me waking me all over. The water was pretty rough due to the amount of Large boats out Running circles and zig zagging all over the lake it made it very Rough to ride through .

Seems no matter where i went from Up craig's creek, spruce creek even making a 3 mile run up river to get away from all the joyriders only to find 5 more racing on the straight before 312.
