With the crazy water temps we've had this year they may be having a second spawn...I've heard of fish doing crazy things like that

Friend of mine who used to be a guide on Cave Run was on vacation this week so a buddy and I drove down to fish with him. We fished for Muskie first thing yesterday morning, my buddy had two follows including one that might have went 50 inches, it was a giant, but never would take. After the sun got up and heated things up we decided to do some crappie fishing. We ended up catching somewhere around 100 between the three of us. We kept 30, biggest one was just shy of 14 inches. Most were 9-10 inches and chunky. Also had a 9 inch bluegill and about a 3-4 pound channel cat.
On the water at daylight to chase the muskie again this morning and one buddy had a follow and then I had a 40 incher on briefly next to the boat. One bite and I lost it. Water temps were 69-70 degrees in the morning and warming to about 72-73 in the day.
Also, all of those crappie had eggs and were presumably getting ready to spawn on this new moon I am assuming, but I sure didn't expect to catch any crappie this time of year with eggs.

Good Morning... I can't tell you what was or where but I can maybe tell you what wasn't working, I was there monday and some dinks is all I could find but I have heard from a few other sources that some good crappie are being caught now, I fished the main lake and personally couldn't find anything shallow... What fish I managed to catch were 12 or 15 feet deep hanging around some flooded pine trees in 20 or 25 feet of water... I did hear that some good fish were being caught in the poppin rock area and farther up in the north fork, ran across a fella at a gas station who said he had caught 82 a day or so prior so I was in the wrong place or was using the wrong bait...
As a side note, the "fin fur and feather" store said they were selling out of minnows about as fast as they could get them in so that might mean something.
We were fishing minnows rigged drop shot style. We didn't catch many on brush piles but we caught most of them in two spots. One was a lay down inside a point and the other spots was around a what looked like the start of a beaver hut. All of our fish came from 10-12 feet deep.
If you would have set the hook you would have caught that Musky.
Did your Head get in the way, lmao.....![]()
LOL you know that's right. I was so stunned I just raised the rod tip a little and started reeling. I think it was because of all the crappie the day before I wasn't prepared. At least that's my story!
A guy with a melon the size of yours and you want to make head jokes? Seriously dude, when I pulled up to Otter Creek last Saturday morning and saw you, the first thing I did was pray for healing of that large growth growing off the top of your neck!!!![]()
