waterdog101 and Hlleonard, you both make very good arguments and I have to agree with you on most points.

The basic premise of the Food Stamp Program is laudable. However, we all know of the rampant abuse some of the benefactors commit.

It just fits into my overall supposition of the massive fraud, waste, and abuse in the Federal Government from all programs and departments. We've recently seen some of that abuse committed from the GAO with their lavish Las Vegas conventions.

I don't come into daily contact with the higher up government employees committing such egresious acts but I do see the abuse of food stamps when I shop. I guess that's why it brings it closer to home.

It's my belief ( and I know I could be in error) but have the minimum requirements to receive aid been lowered in that more and more people are eligible?

No one should go hungry in this great country but do they really need to cover soda pop, filet Mignon, and potato chips to be paid for with our money?
