Guys, Hoosier here, but figure I would try one of Ky. best lakes known for bass. Call it beginners luck, maybe a '' perfect storm '' of right decisions but did my son and I have a hell of a time from Tuesday evening until Thursday afternoon. We drove down and got a room at the Barkley Dam Motel Tuesday afternoon...ask the owner if he had any good spots we could try...his response was if we didnt know ledge fishing, we were in trouble. I said just tell me where the closest ramp was so we could fish the last 3 hours of the evening. he told me and we put in about 6pm. 10 min. after trolling to a laydown, I caught a nice 3 lb largemouth on a pop-R in a shade pocket...we move to a rip-rap throwning top water, crankbaits and baby brushhogs. We caught 20 keepers, 15 in. or better with my personal best 4 lb smallmouth...in a 2 and a half hour span...the next morning we caught 12 keeps on large spooks, throwing them under bridges on rip-raps and the last morning gave us 15 more large fish in a residential backwater area that my son caught a 5 lber on a brush-hog on a laydown...all in all we caught over 40 keepers fishing two mornings and two evenings....
