If the front unit has a small gauge power pair it could be getting hot and that robs power which would eventually caause that problem. If that was the problem pulling a larger gauge wire would fix it. Just wondering if it comes back on after an hour or so while it cools down?
Of course a bad connection gets hot as well. Prolly not to hard to isolate with a meter and some troubleshooting.
