just search youtube for speeding on bluegrass pit..first video that pops up. but they definitely aren't going idle speed. everyone speeds every now and then, but when you have that many other boats out around you need to be respectful. keep it up, get pictures and videos and show them to the CO

I clicked on the link after I posted it in here and the video was easily found. Not sure why you didn't located it. Perhaps the U tube thing was down or changed or there is a difference in our computer and operating systems or something. Not sure. This is the first time I've used U Tube to post a video. I normally have been using photobucket to post Jpeg pictures only.

Could you try it again and see if it works now? If not please let me know. I'm not sure what I can do to fix it but I'll try to see what I can find out.

The Video is 30 fps and high resolution and in color. Well that's how my camera records it.

People fishing these pits should be aware that I'm not the only one with a movie recording as I've seen lots of others out there using them.

I thought about this for a while and when one of the other guys said something about small john boats going wide open with small motors I figured I'd record what I could find and post it on U tube. Perhaps these guys don't know about the regulations but I doubt that they could miss the signs at the entrance where it says" Idle speed only and strictly enforced". Perhaps the last part is in errors.

I'm concerned that if they keep this up that the CO's not only will fine them but the Property Manager will make the lakes trolling motor only again. Now if you like to canoe and want that to happen you might be tempted to get out there and test the system to get rid of gas motors. That would be a mistake IMHO.

The faster boat in the video is actually a canoe with a square back end and a small gas motor on it. I could not see the motor's Horse Power Rating but it looked to be about a 2 or 3 HP motor from the size of it. The other boat was using a 7.5 HP gas motor. Both boats had little kids in them. Grandpaw was driving the boat with the 7.5 HP motor and had two kids in his boat while the father was in the canoe and had his little daughter in his canoe. All the kids have their life jackets on.

These are not bad people. I watched them launch this morning and recover their boats and they were very conscious and watched the kids to keep them out of trouble. The Kids were well behaved too. Why they didn't keep their boat speed at Idle only is what makes me wonder if they were aware of the regulations.

I didn't know it would do that. I myself had to sign up to Google U Tube before I could post the video. Perhaps we have to join U tube before we can view that link?

I did find it another way. I went to the UTube web site and typed into the search text box the words:

"Speeding on Bluegrass Pit"

It should show up on a list from there. Then just click on the icon for the "speeding on bluegrass pit" and it should work then.

Remember that it uses Adobe's movie program. Can't remember what it's called. But you should download and install that Adobe Program on your computer to view the U Tube Videos. Not sure if they work with Microsoft's Windows Media Player or not. I think it's Adobe Flash that I use.

You can type this into the address bar of your internet explorer. I have Google as my default search engine though. So you may need to go to www.google.com and do the search from there is you are using a different search engine.

I'm using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9 so your experience may be different.

I was not aware that you had to sign into U tube before you could view the videos. Never had to do that before. Perhaps I had been signed in to Utube in the past and still had their cookie on my computer.

This morning I ran CCleaner and after that I could not see the video anymore by clicking on the link in the first post in this thread. Evidently when I ran CCleaner it deleted all my cookies. So when I clicked on the link this morning it said I had to log or sign into U tube account.

The other day when I clicked on the link it took me right to the video. I must have been logged in from signing up with u tube and google to upload that movie to their server.

Computers make it difficult to do things sometime. Life's complicated these days.

I'm not sure how fast they were going. But you can see the wake that the boat makes. What exactly is Idle speed anyway? That's the hard part about enforcing this rule for the CO's. Where do you draw the line? Should they change the rule to "no wake" or use a radar gun to determine how fast everyone is going?

I've seen guys in other boats going much faster than that canoe in the video. But the Canoe didn't have a motor any bigger than 2.5 HP from what I can tell. How fast can a 2.5 HP merc push a 12 to 15 ft long canoe at full throttle. The sound on the video is covered up by the camera's moving on the tripod. I need to get a stereo microphone to use with the camera. That way the camera's noises won't be picked up by the recorder.

In the video you can hear the engine speeding up and slowing down.

When I fished the northen divisonal we were told that idle is when you engage your motor the first click when you first put it in forward is idle. Anything more and you would of been giving a ticket. Was to slow for me so I did not go where I had to idle. But that was the Wisconsin DNR idle rule.
