On one hand i agree with ellnut...a 22 incher makes a pretty thin sandwich. But on the other hand if a group of people get into a school of 22s and wish to keep them thats one boat thats done and off the lake for the day instead of trolling and catching and releasing and on and on. Like most on the board here we wouldnt be too excited about a 22 inch fish. But to the majority of casual, family , infrequent fishers...a 22 inch fish is tje biggest fish theyve ever caught, i cant count the number of 24 inchers ive seen leave the dock headeyd for the taxidermist shop..:and i couldnt be happier for them. I still think the 22 inch size limit should be seasonal and directly related to water temps / mortality etc. But for me i wont be having grilled 22 incher with baked tater and porky beans, not filling enough for a fat boy like me lol!!

I tend to think the smaller ones eat better anyway. Don't know about a 22 incher as I haven't had one yet. Sunday, they were either too small or 26 and better. Push comes to shove, you can always have two of them! LOL Totally agree on the seasonal limits. Could NOT agree more. But for now, they do need to clear out some of those 23" fish so I understand. I'd like to see it change to 30 inches, one under, from Dec to March/April and 22 (must keep) from April to Dec. I even saw a few 23" floaters this past weekend where people didn't know how to handle them or they gut hooked em and tried to save a hook. THAT is a waste.
