Go with Masterbuilt you can buy one at Sams for $299. It is the 40 inch version. Works great.

I have a masterbuilt and love it. It is gas and it will smoke, can be used as a fish fryer, turkey fryer, wood or charcoal grill. It rocks.

I've had several smokers (charcoal and electric). Honestly I don't see much difference in clean up and cooking on either - most of the cleaning afterwards is done to the grates and pan - so I would say it is a toss up. One thing I don't like about electric ones (at least the cheaper ones) is the lack of temp control - actually cheaper charcoal ones lack the temp control just as much - and the finished product was often not as good.

I got a weber smokey mountain a couple months ago, and it is a world of difference. There is a reason you see these quite a bit at pro bbq competitions. It i easy to use, and after a very small learning curve I have been able to lock in the temps @ 225 for over 16 hours without adding any more charcoal. The finished product has been outstanding. IMO it is the best Smoker priced under the big green egg.
