We hauled canoes to Canada and portaged around and camped on an island for a week....Of all the vacations I've been on to the beach and to KY Lake, this was my all time favorite....There were 10 of us and we saw one other boat all week with 2 guys in it and caught and ate a ton of fish...It was completely peaceful and we got to see a lot of wildlife that you don't get to see around here...We had no electricity or running water so we filtered and drank the lake water...If you hit the weather right like we did, I cant see having a better vacation
I AGREE............great, fantastic trip.
I do it every year, and sometimes twice a year.
I would go to Lake Falcon no question.
Not too far away, Douglas Lake in Tennessee. Close to Gatlinburg/Smoky Mountains. Excellent bass, crappie and blugill fishing. Trout fishing in downtown little pigeon river area.

El Salto Mexico
I'm a little leary about traveling to Mexico with all the drug cartel fighting going on MHall. I'm thinking I want to do an Alaska trip, but it's maybe more expensive than I want to spend. I have deepsea fished out of Cancun and Cabo before in Mexico, never hit the Bass Lakes though.
The Florida Keys are looking pretty good because you have the opportunity to fish deepsea,Freshwater,or Tarpon in the bays and flats all in the same area. I thought about Costa Rico, but think I'll stick to domestic travel now,Canada would be okay except I'm not in shape to rough it very much right now.

Hey Glenn there are few guys on here that go El Salto every year. According to them that part of Mexico is still very safe. I would love to fish that lake. I've also been told that if you take a few people and share expenses it's affordable. They also treat you like a king while your there waiting on you hand and foot.
All that said I do understand where you are coming from and that would concern me as well.
