Any certain area of the lake better than the other ?

Was out on Herrington from 10am-5pm bass fishing and had a blast! Water temp was around 81-82 degrees and fish were anywhere from 5-10 feet deep with most fish caught shallow. I started out throwing a bandit crank(can't remember which series) and caught fish around docks and along the steep rock walls with my boat practically touching the wall. Boated probably 15 fish with this method including a 5-6 pound flathead. Most fish where around 14 inches. I had a huge problem losing fish right before they got to the boat including a 3-4 pound bass and was wondering if there was anything I could do to stop this from happening? Around 3:00 my dad came down and we decided to change over to a shakey head with a finesse worm and fish the more gentle sloping banks. Dad caught a nice 3 pounder right off the bat and we probably caught 10 in total until we had to leave.
It was definitely one of, if not the best day bass fishing I've ever had out on the lake other than losing those fish which was extremely frustrating. They all looking like they were just hooked by the back treble and when they surfaced just shook it out. Any advice to keep that from happening would be greatly appreciated!

Couldn't tell you, I was fishing the lower end.
Earlier this spring, I was having that same problem with fish throwing my crankbait. I slowed down my retrieve which allowed the fish to get more of the bait in its mouth when it hit. This increased my catch rate a lot.
Check your hooks. They need to be extremely sharp. I exchange mustad triple grips on all new cranks. Catch ratio will increase dramatically. If the hook does not catch on your thumbnail, get a stone or hook sharpener. You will see a difference!

Thanks for the replies! I'll try these things out next time I'm out and using the crank. I haven't had much luck with a crank after that day, mostly been catching them off the Shakey head. I have yet to have any luck catching fish after dark out there. If the water temp is cool enough during the day is it possible they aren't feeding after dark?

Did you see any whites/hybrids jumping during the day?
