Thanks for your post Ogrey. Very diplomatic.Double-R,
Traditionally you do not get much information from the local tournament fisherman just before the tourney. Probably you would not want to have someone beat you with the information you spent days or weeks finding and developing and gave away to some stranger that asked. Most of the time folks on this board will give information out pretty freely, but don't expect them to cut their own throat the day before the tourney. Just saying don't be so hard on these guys. Good luck.
Any advice I get on the board is mostly generic. I don't fish tournament and guys are generally helpful but I still have to figure out what I am doing. Networking does help and if I was going to focus on a lake a lot; I probably would make friends that fish that lake and monitor the board and posts about that lake for a few weeks before I go to fish that lake.
I might also consider hiring a guide the first or second time on a lake. The guides I have hired had often given me great insight when I asked for their advice when coming back to a lake.
Someone mentioned you have to be realistic. I agree. If I was going to be fishing a tournament another guy was fishing, I might even mislead them with advice.
