I was at a convenience store this morning and I paid for my purchase of $6.09 by giving the cashier at $10 bill and a dime. After the cashier rang up the bill and started to give me $3.91 in change, I realized she hadn’t seen the dime I gave her which was still on the counter. I pointed this out, but rather than just putting the change back and giving me $4.01, she voided the whole transaction and started all over again.
I asked her if she had to account for all of the money exactly as it was in the register and as it was received and paid out. She said, No, it was just easier to start all over again. Even as poor as I am at mathematics, I didn’t understand why it was easier to put all of the money back in the register, void the transaction, re-input the bill, take out the correct change and give it to me rather than just keeping the penny, put back the .90 cents, take out one more dollar and give me the $4.01.
I wouldn’t have thought too much about it, except that something similar to this had happened to me at least three times in the last few months. Even so, what bothered me wasn’t really what the lady did or didn’t do to make change; it was her seeming inability to make change without having the cash register figure it out for her. In other words, she was depending on a machine to do her thinking for her.
And people like her vote! Geofisher's earlier post about ultra stupid people is another case in point.
This country is in dire trouble folks, especially because we have done everything to kick God out that I don't blame him if he doesn't want to help us.
Grumpy
Not only is it your right to vote, but it is also your RESPONSIBILITY. I think about the second word quite a bit.
I think it is your responsibility to no foolishly vote. WE have Obama because a bunch of people who had no business voting, voted. I know there are 10 craploads of folks who will disagree with me and look at the pure and simple "your RIGHT to vote".
At one time, you had to be a land owner to vote. While I don't want those days again, I do believe it creates some ownership to the responsibility.
While we're at it........I still don't understand how a felon, who PAID his dues does not have the right to vote...have had, never will.
Oh well.
Later,
Geo
