Homeowners will cover ....replacement cost on personal property away from premises with a deductible.
You will need to replace to get the replacement cost....depreciated value until you show copy of bill
where you replaced with new items.

Only if you have a GOOD policy.

I don't jack around with worrying about it, and had a SPECIFIC rider added to my homeowners and boat policy that covers all my fishing gear.

I call it my fishing gear policy, because it covers if stole at my house , or the hotel, or the boat, or my car, or the boat ramp........Or the campground.

More importantly, it also covers it if I SINK my canoe and lose it all. Capsize in the boundary waters with 1000.00 of rods and reels and 500 worth of tackle. 100 dollar deductible, and it is covered.

OUTLINE specifically what you want and need, and then take it to your agent.......

    Later,

I keep a zipplock baggie with a half dozen shotgun shells and a dozen or so .357 rounds in it. Whenever I park in backcountry areas that are susceptible to break ins I scatter them around on the dash and seats in VERY plain view letting anyone know that if i get back while they are there I'm probably packin. Knock on wood it's worked so far.

This is why I like to fish where I can park my vehicle within site of where I fish

Sorry for your loss. I hope they catch the thief(s). They should put them away for a while in a sticking jail and let them find out what it's like to lose their freedom.

It's stories like this that make me sick! Are people so desperate that they have to resort to breaking into some one else's car and steal their fishing stuff. Low life's.

Keep an eye on ebay and craigslist as well as the pawn shops. The stuff, or at least some of it, will likely show up there. At least if it does happen to show up online, you will have a starting point to find the pieces of #$%^.

a good many years ago i did a fishing show with KY Afield . the night before we filmed i met up with Dave Shuffet, Norm Minch and cameraman Tommy Bauerman at a local motel (which i will not name due to change of ownership) and we grilled steaks, told fishing stories, and planned the next mornings trip. While we were behind the cottages, my boat loaded with gear was in the front of the motel. When i went to my truck to leave i noticed my bait tank was missing.....along with everything else in the boat, and i mean EVERYTHING!!. rods, reels, tackle boxes, life jackets, throw cushion, fire extinguisher, polarized glasses, net, bait net, castnet, spare spools of line, submersible lights, bait tank salt, shad saver....etc, and etc.
all of this gear was removed from the boat with all 4 of us a mere 75 feet away, i was too stunned and bewildered to me mad.
my insurance covered "0", and the motels insurance covered "0", without proof of what i had in the boat they would not even talk about it......even if i had receipts they said that didnt prove it was in the boat when i came to the motel.

fortunately i have great friends that were waiting at the ramp at 4am with "loaner gear" so we could fish as planned.

i have never even got a whiff of who might have taken the gear, and none of it ever showed up locally which made me believe it was aother guest at the motel that lived a good distance away from here.

as GEO stated above i now insure my contents, for a couple extra dollars its worth the piece of mind.

i hope you find your gear.

I had a lot of tackle stolen from my boat one October at Moors' Marina. We reported it to the police who came out and did a report my insurance covered it all minus the deductible of 100.00. I'm still with that insurance company.

If I could help you find your gear you would not have to give me any reward catching the *** ***** would be reward enough
