I don't know what the deal is with the 44 million, but I suspect he was pretty high up in the pecking order anyways, and would have had serious stock options, etc. etc.
Why the hell do you care........maybe you should CARE more about the Board getting rid of him.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

More power to him. You have no idea. Maybe he owned the company that was merged with Duke. Maybe he moved out of the coal fields as a miner, and got an education, had a couple breaks, and managed to move into a position to bust his butt and end up owning it.
Maybe he had stock options that HAD to be paid.

Just look at Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, and about every other EU country except for Germany, to see what Equality Hawking gets you.
