I feel we have one of the best park systems ever!
I know some people do not understand how lucky we are to have our parks. They are the ones who leave trash all over them.
Not much beats a day in the park...except fishing! I love fishing in the parks! The kids love fishing in the parks! It is nothing to grab n go when you are not road tripping !
Have you fished the parks? What do you think about FINS? Do you have a top 3 you fish at? Thank you in advance!

I have fished Miles park and Cherokee park quite a bit, but I stopped going because I never seemed to be able to catch anything. The only time I have done any good is right after the trout stocking at Cherokee a couple years ago. My 8 year old at the time was able to catch his first trout which was pretty cool. The boys did enjoy looking for crawdads in the creek at Miles park as well, but I never really caught any fish.
I've fished the FINS lakes a lot, and enjoy them quite a bit. No, they are not "fished out," they are stocked on a regular basis with catfish, bass, and bluegill, and most are stocked twice a year with rainbow trout. This time of year, whatever trout have not been caught will have died off due to the hot weather. Watch the web site for the trout stocking schedule (http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/troutsched.asp) and go within a few weeks after they're stocked, and the trout are not hard to catch on a spinner, or a minnow under a slip bobber. I've had days at Miles where I caught my limit within an hour or so, and that was back when the limit was still 8 fish (it's now 5 for trout at the FINS lakes). The nicest one is probably Tom Wallace, but it's a long drive for me, so I generally stick to Miles or Fisherman's Park. Fisherman's has a bad problem with weed growth, but nowadays they stock the lakes on both sides of the road, so it's not so bad. One thing I love to do there is to take a cane pole with a small jig and curly tail grub, tipped with a wax worm or a piece of nightcrawler, and go around the edge of the lake seeing what I can scare up out of the weeds. I've caught all kinds of odd-looking sunfish species - goggle-eyes, rock bass, warmouth, or whatever, I'm not sure exactly - and have NEVER gotten skunked doing that.
You're right about the trash. My wife and I always bring extra trash bags with us when we go, and unfortunately, it's all too easy to fill them up![]()
