been fishing the river for about 10 years now , mostly from a boat but ive been shore bound all year. i have no problem using artificial lure for white bass , striper/hybrids , sauger when fishing from the bank but when it comes to cats i am doing nothing but loosing tackle and not catching a darn thing. when fishing from my boat i either drift or toss the anchor out and use a 3-way rig. but from the bank its worthless for me. i try the 3-way rig , no roll sinker , no weight at all and just letting the bait drift with the current. i either get hung up on the bottom or dont catch anything at all. ive fished under the upper dam , the hydros , bottom of the ramp on harrison ave , theres a creek just south of the shermon minton bridge ( not sure of the name but ive heard a guy call it flat flat rock creek, im using shad and skipjack for bait.
so does anyone have any tips to share for possibly being more sucsessfull from the bank ? really just need ideals on other ways to rig up and not keep donating tackle to the rocks.
